GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The team of James St. Cyr
and Cris Mechereffe posted a 10-under par round of 60 as Wingate
University is tied with Carson-Newman College/Anderson College at 188
after the first day of the Food Lion Fall Festival Golf Tournament,
played today at River Trace Golf Club. The two-day, men and women's
tournament is being held in conjunction with the Food Lion South
Atlantic Conference.
Saturday's format had men and women's teams playing
in a best-ball format on the par 70 layout. Sunday's final round will
have teams using an alternate shot format at the Par 72 Link Hills
Country Club.
The combined team of Carson-Newman/Anderson was led
by Matthew Cram-Smith/Katheryn Adkins who are tied with St. Cyr and
Mechereffe at 60.
Host Tusculum College Orange is in third place at
192, followed by Lenoir-Rhyne College (196), Tusculum Black (196),
Arkansas Tech (197), Union College (1999) and Catawba College (201).
