Wingate Wins SAC Fall Festival Golf Tournament

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- James St. Cyr and Cris Mechereffe shot a combined 11-under par 132 to lead Wingate University to the team title of the 2001 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Fall Festival, held Sunday at Link Hills Country Club. The men and women's golf event is being held in conjunction with the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament.

The team of Matthew Cram-Smith/Katheryn Adkins from Carson-Newman College/Anderson College won medalists' honors with 127 (-14), including a Sunday best 67 during the alternate shot format of the two-day tournament. St. Cyr and Mechereffe fired the second best score of the day with a one-under par 70.

Wingate won the team title with 400, while Carson-Newman/Anderson shot 405. Lenoir-Rhyne College was third at 406, followed by host Tusculum College Orange (409), Arkansas Tech (419), Tusculum Black (420), Catawba College (420) and Union College (444).
