#16 Catawba Advances to SAC Women's Soccer Tourney Semifinals

SALISBURY, NC - Senior Kim O'Hagan (Branchburg, NJ) scored a pair of goals to lead 16th-ranked Catawba College to a 4-0 win over visiting Mars Hill in an opening round match of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament on Tuesday night at Frock Field. The Lady Indians, the #2-seed, won their seventh straight to improve to 13-2-1 and advance to a 3 p.m. Saturday semifinal at Tusculum College in Greeneville, TN, against either Presbyterian or Wingate. Mars Hill ends its season at 7-8-3.

O'Hagan scored the initial goal in the 14th minute. Kyley Thompson (Hagerstown, MD) had a shot that stopped in front of the goal, but was touched back by Erin Drickey (Alexandria, VA) to O'Hagen. Thompson would put the Lady Indians up 2-0, taking a lofted pass over the defense from Amy Obermiller (Waxhaw, NC) to notch her team-leading 14th tally of the season in the 21st minute. O'Hagan would add her second goal ten minutes before the half for a 3-0 lead at the break.

The entire match was played in rain, and by the second half most of the middle third was in puddles. Drickey would score the lone goal of the half in the 71st minute, taking a pass from Thompson and beating Lady Lion keeper Laura Humphries (Greeneville, TN) with a shot that just trickled over the goal line. Humphries made nine save, while Catawba keeper Kim Clayton (Haw River, NC) did not record a save in registering her 30th career shutout.
