Courtesy Tusculum College, Lenoir-Rhyne College Sports Information Offices Indians Win Defensive Battle to Advance to Finals GREENEVILLE, Tenn.- Kim O'Hagan's (Branchburg, N.J.) goal in the fourth minute of the match proved to be the game winner as Catawba defeated Wingate 1-0 in the semi-finals of the women's soccer 2002 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Fall Sports Festival. With the win, the Indians advance to Sunday's finals against Lenoir-Rhyne. The match is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. Catawba improves to 14-2-1. Wingate falls to 14-4-2. The game was a defensive battle as the two teams combined to take only 15 shots all night. The Indians had eight shots, six on goal, and the Bulldogs had seven shots with five being on goal.

No. 4 Lenoir-Rhyne Upends Top-Seeded Tusculum College, 2-1, in Semifinals GREENEVILLE, TENN. - Lenoir-Rhyne College, the fourth-seeded team in the 2002 South Atlantic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament, upset the top seed and host school, Tusculum College, in the semifinals Saturday, 2-1. With the victory, the Bears improved to 13-4-2 on the season and will play in their first championship match since 1999 while the Pioneers fell to 13-7-1. L-R's win also snapped Tusculum's 39-match unbeaten streak at home. The game remained scoreless through most the match until Lenoir-Rhyne's Julie Dodds took over a breakaway and scored at 77:05. L-R scored a critical goal to make it 2-0 in the 82nd minute when Amy Westmoreland grabbed hold of a loose ball and scored high into the net. Tusculum's Amber Ferchaud scored with just 25 seconds left in the match to make it a 2-1 final. L-R goalkeeper Julie Crosby stopped five shots including two on a penalty kick in the first half by Ferchaud.
