The ninth annual Food Lion SAC Spring Sports
Festival will be held April 24-28, 2002 in the Newberry/Clinton, SC
area.
The Festival combines the league's six spring
tournaments [baseball, golf (men's/women's), softball, and tennis
(men's/women's)] into an exciting athletic atmosphere that encompasses
the entire communities. The Festival concept was initiated in 1994 by
the league's athletic directors. It was held in Salisbury, NC, for the
first six years.
The baseball tournament will be held at the
Newberry College and Newberry High School fields, while the softball
tournament is played at Intramural Park at Presbyterian College. The
men's and women's tennis tournaments rotate each year between Newberry
and Presbyterian. This year the men's tourney will be at Presbyterian,
the women's at Newberry. The men's golf tournament is played at
Lakeside Country Club in Clinton, while the women's tournament is
played at the Country Club of Newberry. For all competition,
