NEWBERRY, S.C. – Newberry avenged last year’s elimination-game loss to L-R with three runs in the top of the ninth to put the Bears out of this year’s Food Lion / South Atlantic Conference Baseball Tournament 6-3 at Kirkland Field in Friday afternoon action.

Last season the Bears hit solo homers in the eighth and ninth to end the Indians’ season 9-8 in the first elimination game of the tournament. Newberry faces the loser of the 3:45 p.m. Catawba/Carson-Newman contest at Kirkland Field at 8:15 p.m.
