FORT MILL, S.C. - Carson-Newman College took home the 2004 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Championship Wednesday at the Regent Park Golf Course in Fort Mill, S.C. The Eagles shot an 875 (+23) on the par-71, 6,735-yard course and rolled to a 17-stroke victory over runner-up Catawba (892, +40). Carson-Newman also had the top two individuals, Tanner Davis (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Matthew Cram-Smith (Perth, Australia), for the tournament. Davis won the event after shooting a 215 (+2) over 54 holes while Cram-Smith finished +4 (217). Earning all-tournament honors were Davis, Cram-Smith, Presbyterian's Patrick Mitchell (Beaufort, S.C.), Catawba's Richard Lowe (Johnson City, Tenn.), Tusculum's Sasha Catron (Greeneville, Tenn.), Catawba's Steven Harvey (Salisbury, N.C.) and Carson-Newman's Josh Coley (Chattanooga, Tenn.).
