2004 Food Lion SAC Women's Golf Championship

ROCK HILL, SC - The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears lead after the first day of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference women's golf tournament. The Bears fired a score of 326-327-653 to take a 13-stroke lead over second-place Catawba. The Bears held an eight-stroke lead after the first 18 holes by shooting 326. They added to their lead with a 327 in the second round. Catawba shaved two strokes off their score in the second round by shooting 332 to finish with a score of 334-332-666. Emily Allen (Turner, Maine) led the Bears by shooting 79-77-156 in the 36 holes played on Thursday at the Fort Mill Golf Club. Allen's score places her in second place in individual scoring. Catawba's Paige Haverty (Greenville, N.C.) holds the top individual score after day one as she shot 76-79-155. Wingate's Audrey Morgan (Midland, N.C.) is in third place with a score of 75-84-159 and is tied with Catawba's Kristen Kyle (Greer, S.C.) who shot 80-79-159. The final round of the SAC Tournament will be played on Friday, April 23, beginning at 8 a.m. |
