Catawba College sophomore outfielder David Thomas (Winston-Salem,NC/Ledford) was named the Most Valuable Player for the 2006 Food Lion SAC Baseball Tournament, after helping to lead the Indians to the tournament title Sunday in Greeneville, TN. Thomas went 10-for-18 for a .556 batting average, with two home runs, three runs batted in and nine runs scored. He also had a pair of stolen bases. Thomas was one of four Indians named to the All-Tournament Team. Other Catawba team members include Matt Smith, Mark Smith and Jimbo Davis. Runner-up Mars Hill placed five on the All-Tournament Team. Charlie Harrison, John Quail, Matt Russell, Matt Carter and Nathan Fritz were all selected to the All-Tournament Team. Tusculum and Carson-Newman each placed a pair on the All-Tournament Team. Josh Wolff and Skip Talarek represent the Pioneers, while Langdon Pott and Derrick Calkin represent the Eagles. Wingate’s Brent Simpson rounds out the All-Tournament Team. |
