Chester Named Mars Hill Baseball Assistant Coach

Keith ChesterMARS HILL, NC -- Keith Chester has been named the new assistant baseball coach at Mars Hill College, head coach Dan Taylor announced today.

Chester brings 11 years of baseball coaching and instruction experience with him to the program. He most recently came to Mars Hill from Cookeville, TN where he was the instructor and owner of a Baseball Instructional Clinic. Prior to that, Keith was an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech University.

Chester has a long list of coaching stops that include: head coach of the Wausau Woodchucks (1999), a team in the Northwoods League; volunteer assistant at Austin Peay State University (1998-99); assistant coach at the University of Louisville (1996-98); assistant coach at Western Kentucky University (1996); assistant baseball coach and head junior varsity coach at Eastern High School in Louisville, KY (1996); volunteer assistant at Indiana University Southeast; and head junior varsity and assistant varsity baseball coach at New Albany High School in New Albany, IN. Chester was also the head coach of the East-West Ambassadors, a 20 and under team that traveled to Amsterdam, Holland on a mission trip.

Head Coach Dan Taylor stated, "Keith has a lot of knowledge and a great knowledge of the game. His passion for teaching and building relationships with the players is what brought him back to collegiate coaching and I am looking forward to working with him everyday."

Chester graduated from Indiana University Southeast. He is married to the former Milissa Hill. The couple has two children, a daughter Lauren that is eight years old and a son Rock, two years of age. Chester will begin his duties at Mars Hill College immediately.

Mars Hill College is a NCAA Division II institution and a member of the South Atlantic Conference.
