Womens Soccer All-Conference Teams and Award Recipients Announced November 7, 2003 |

SALISBURY, NC The 2003 South Atlantic Conference Womens Soccer All-Conference teams and award winners were announced during the 2003 SAC Womens Soccer Tournament Banquet Friday on the campus of Catawba College in Salisbury, NC. Approximately 150 players, coaches, support staff, and SAC personnel attended the event, which kicks off the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference womens soccer championship. The womens semifinals will be played Saturday, with the tournament championship set for 1 p.m. on Sunday. Carson-Newman received its trophy for winning the regular season championship. This is the first time in school the Eagles have won the league championship. The Eagles also swept the awards for Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Freshman of the Year. Jennifer Bock of Carson-Newman was named the Player of the Year. She ranked among the league leaders in goals, assists and points for the second year in a row. Carson-Newman coach Phil McNamara was named Coach of the Year. In his second year as coach of the Eagles, he guided his team to the regular season championship and a national ranking this year. The Freshman of the Year is Claire Ramsdale of Carson-Newman. She ranked ninth in the league in points per match, and third in assists per match. The SAC Womens Soccer Scholar Athlete award went to Ashley Cooke of Presbyterian College. Cooke is a two-time All-Conference selection at her defender position, as well as an All-Southeast Region selection in 2001. She is a co-captain this year and helped lead the Blue Hose to a tie for second place. During her career, Presbyterian has won more than 73 percent of its games. She is a senior biology student with a 3.70 GPA. She has been a member of the Deans List, the Presidents List and the SAC Commissioners Honor Roll. She is a member of Beta Beta Beta, the honor society for Biology, as well as the Society for Health Services. She is a member and serves as treasurer of the American Institute for Biological Services. In the community, she has been active in fundraising efforts for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness. She also donates her time at local nursing homes, helping with bingo games and ice cream socials. Cooke continues a tradition of excellent scholar athletes from the Presbyterian College womens soccer program. This is the 10th consecutive year that a member of the Blue Hose womens soccer program has won this award.
