Wingate University Student-Athlete Advisory Council Teams With Make-a-Wish Foundation for Fundraiser

Wingate University senior men’s tennis player Marius Dan is a member of the NCAA Division II SAAC.

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) will team with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to create awareness and raise funds at the Wingate University home football game Saturday, November 15.

The Wingate SAAC will sell balloons for $1 at Wingate’s home game versus Carson-Newman College Saturday (game time is 1:30 p.m.). All the individuals who buy balloons will have an opportunity to release their balloon(s) during a special halftime ceremony. The local Make-A-Wish office will receive 80 cents, while the national organization will receive 20 cents.

During the summer of 2002, the NCAA Division II SAAC committed its resources to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Division II SAAC will help raise money for the organization that provides opportunities for individuals with life-threatening illnesses.

Wingate University senior men’s tennis player Marius Dan (Hunedoara, Romania) is a member of the NCAA Division II SAAC. He has attended meetings and seminars throughout the USA, representing the South Atlantic Conference and Wingate University on this national committee.
