Tusculum Claims SAC Women's Tennis Regular Season Title With Sweep of Mars Hill

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The 21st-ranked Tusculum College women's tennis team claimed its first-ever outright South Atlantic Conference championship with a 9-0 sweep of Mars Hill College Thursday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex. It is the third straight league championship for the Pioneers.

TC dominated doubles play, losing just one game at the No. 3 flight.

Tusculum senior Lesley Murray (Monroe, Ga.) closed out her SAC career in fine fashion, defeating freshman Nancie Gruber (Bad Rappanau, Germany) 6-0, 6-2. Murray completes her career 22-0 in conference competition.

The Pioneers took the remainder of singles action losing no more than three games in a set.

Tusculum (18-0, 4-0 SAC) hosts Virginia Intermont College on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
