Allen graduated from Carson-Newman in May with a 3.97 grade point average in Accounting. She was a member of the Dean's List at C-N and the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester. Allen was a member of Alpha Chi Honors Society and was named Carson-Newman Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2003-04. She is a member of Institute of Management Accountants and the Tennessee Society of Accountants Allen has served as a volunteer in many different organizations including the March of Dimes, the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Society. She worked with the Knoxville area Operation Christmas Tree which gathered toys for needy children in the Appalachian area of East Tennessee. Allen volunteered to work with the Angel Tree of Knoxville which helped to gather food and toys for needy people in the area. She is a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church in Newport. On the field, Allen started all 52 games at second base and batted .420 during the 2004 season. She had 20 RBI and was 10-12 in stolen bases. She was third in the South Atlantic Conference in batting average and was named to the All-SAC team in 2004. Sauceman participated in four NCAA Tournaments during her Carson-Newman career. She led C-N to Top Four finishes in every event in 2003 including two team championships and she never finished lowered than fourth place in any event last season. Sauceman is a four-time All-South Atlantic Conference selection, is a three-time All-Region selection and set a school record at the Erskine Invitational with a time of 19:15.78. Sauceman is a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioners Honor Roll and the Carson-Newman Deans List. She was named the 2003-04 Sagebrush Steakhouse Scholar Athlete of the Year which goes to the C-N student-athlete with one of the highest grade point averages in the department. She is a member of the C-N Honors College, studied last summer at Oxford, is a member of the Alpha Chi Honors Society and is active in the C-N Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Members of the All-District team are determined by a vote of the sports information directors in District IV which is made up of colleges and universities from Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. Sauceman now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration. Presbyterian's Lauriston Named to Academic All-Distric First Team
Lauriston, a 6-5, 197-pound senior from Mission Beach, Australia (Tully State HS), posted a 19-3 overall record in singles and 21-4 mark in doubles and en route to first team All-South Atlantic Conference (SAC) honors. He also helped lead the Blue Hose to an 18-4 overall record, a #17 national ranking, the 2004 SAC regular season and tournament titles and received an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Southeast regional tournament in Miami Shores, Fla. PC made it's seventh trip to the postseason in the last eight years and picked up their first postseason win with a 6-0 win over #23 Florida Southern College to advance to their first region finals appearance. The Blue Hose ended the season in the regional finals with a 5-0 loss to #6 Barry University. In the classroom, Lauriston majored in biology and maintained a 3.67 grade point average. He has been on the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll all four years, the Presbyterian College Dean's List six semesters, and the President's List, for having a perfect 4.0 average, for one semester. He is also a member of several academic honors societies including Sigma Kappa Alpha, Beta Beta Beta, and Order of Omega. Student-athletes selected for Academic All-District honors must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials. He must possess at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.00 scale). He must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have completed at least one full academic year at his institution. District III (college division) includes all non-NCAA Division I schools (Division II, III and NAIA) in Florida, Georgia, Virginia and North and South Carolina. PC's Forrester Named to Academic All-District Team CLINTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College women's cross country runner Tanith Forrester has been named to the 2004 CoSIDA Academic All-District III College Division Women's Track/Cross Country Team announced today. The 10-member team will move on to the national ballot where they will compete for 2004 Academic All-America® honors. Forrester, a 5-8 senior from Lexington, S.C. (Lexington HS), helped her team to five top three finishes in eight meets this past fall. She posted six top 10 individual finishes including winning the PC Invitational on October 3, 2003. This past fall she earned second team All-SAC honors and finished ninth at the SAC Championship Meet and 19th at the NCAA Southeast Regional Meet. In the classroom, Forrester majored in biology and maintained a 3.60 grade point average. She has been on the SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll all four years, the Presbyterian College Dean's List six semesters, and the President's List, for having a perfect 4.0 average, for two semesters.
