ROCK HILL, SC - Lauren Brown of Presbyterian College has been named the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative for the South Atlantic Conference, announced earlier this month by league officials. Brown replaces Lauren Epps of Newberry College who served as the league's representative for the last two years.

"I am very honored to be given the opportunity to represent my fellow student-athletes at the national level," said Brown. "I look forward to the challenges that face me on this committee and hope to spread the ideas to those around me to improve the athletic process for the better."
"I am proud that Lauren Brown was selected for this important role," said Director of Athletics, Bee Carlton. "She will be an outstanding representative to the National Student-Athlete advisory committee. Lauren achieves exceptional things in and out of the classroom for the College and her teammates. She is a leader in both domains. She is well spoken and thoughtful. Lauren will be an effective representative of each of the South Atlantic Conference member institutions' student-athletes at the national level. It is hard to think of a person better suited to represent PC and the South Atlantic Conference to the NCAA."

Brown, a sophomore from Gaffney, South Carolina is a member of the Presbyterian College women's tennis and basketball programs. She is currently 9-3 in singles and 6-5 in doubles for the PC women's tennis team that currently hold an 9-3 overall record. She has already earned South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week honors twice (2/15, 3/1) this season for her efforts on the hardcourts.

"I am very excited that Lauren Brown was selected by the NCAA to represent the South Atlantic Conference," said Senior Woman Administrator, Dawn Youngblood. "She is a remarkable student-athlete with exceptional leadership skills and work ethic on and off the court. She will do an excellent job with this position."

Brown will represent Presbyterian College and the South Atlantic Conference on the national NCAA Division II NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She will serve as the league's national representative liaison for the SAC at all national meetings.

This past September, Brown participated in the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Action Academy held in Charlotte, NC. The NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Action Academy was tailored for Division II programs. The purpose of this academy was to enhance leadership skills and to become acquainted with Division II issues. The NCAA wants to assist in improving the learning environment on campuses across the country.
