Presbyterian Remains Sixth After Second Round of NCAA Men's Golf Southeast Super Regional

COLUMBUS, GA - Presbyterian College made up 13 strokes from Monday's opening round to shoot 311 today to remain in sixth place after the second round of the Southeast Regional at the Atlantic/Southeast Super Regional at Bull's Creek West Course. Defending national champion USC Aiken shot a second round 298, but held off Armstrong Atlantic's 295 to remain the clubhouse leader entering tomorrow's final round by two strokes.

USC Aiken's Scott Brown leads the tournament with a two-round score of 143 including a second round one-under par 71. Brown is followed by first round leader and teammate, Dane Burkhart and AASU's Jonathan Cox who are tied for second at 144. UNC-Pembroke's Greg Dobbins and AASU's Chris Epperson are tied for fourth at 146.

The Pacers lead with a two-round score of 590 followed by AASU at 592 while Georgia College & State is third at 612. Host Columbus State is one stroke behind in fourth place at 613 followed by Francis Marion University (616), PC (635), UNC Pembroke (641), and North Greenville College (647).

The Blue Hose were led by Co-SAC Player of the Year selection, junior Jimi Brindell (Tequesta, FL) who is tied for 18th at 155 followed by freshman Hugh Morrison (Macon, GA), the SAC Co-Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year selection, rebounded from an opening round 84 yesterday to shoot 73 today and has a two-day score of 157. Sophomore Ben Karns (Gaffney, SC), a second team All-SAC selection, is 34th with a 162 followed by freshman Wes Herlong (Johnston, SC) with a 165 while sophomore Patrick Townes (Summerville, SC) has a two-day score of 175.

The winner of each regional will advance, followed by the next three top-scoring teams, regardless of region. The top scoring individual not on an advancing team will also earn a spot in the Division II Championship.

Lenoir-Rhyne College's Bum Young Ko and Wingate University junior Lorcan Morris (Swords, Republic of Ireland) are tied for 15th after the second day of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament.

Ko improved four strokes and five spots, shooting a 75 on Tuesday. Morris improved his score by two strokes Tuesday, carding a 76. He shot 78 on Monday.

Mars Hill College's Ryan Skantz is in 28th after shooting a second-day score of 80. He is one stroke ahead of Carson-Newman's Dane Fairfield, who shot a 79 on Tuesday.
