Barry Shuts Out Tusculum in NCAA Men's Tennis

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. --- The No. 2 Barry University men's tennis team swept the three doubles matches and won the third and fifth singles flights in blanking No. 40 Tusculum College 5-0 Friday morning in the opening match of the 2005 NCAA Division II Tournament. Barry improves to 18-1 and advances to tomorrow's Southeast Region final. The Pioneers end their season at 13-6, while advancing to the NCAA postseason for a fourth consecutive year. The Bucs grabbed all three doubles points. Victor Rodriguez and Alex Praderas defeated Pedro Galavis and Michael Hallford 8-1 at No. 3 doubles, while Martin Jensen and Sebastian Losavio made beat Jesse Puckerin and Roberto Robles 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. The Bucs' top team, Thomas Hipp and Rittenauer made it 3-0 with an 8-3 win at the No. 1 flight over Carlos Garcia and Sergio Espinosa. In singles, Barry's Rittenaur scored a 6-0, 6-0 win over Espinosa at number three singles. Manuel Lauter closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Garcia at number five singles. Singles Doubles |
