Tusculum Earns NCAA Baseball Berth, Faces Tampa on Thursday

INDIANAPOLIS --- For the second time in three years, the Tusculum College baseball team has earned a berth to the NCAA Division Tournament announced officials Monday morning. The four-team, double elimination South Regional will be hosted by Florida Southern College at Henley Field in Lakeland, Fla.

The Pioneers (43-15) will be the No. 2 seed and will face third-seeded Tampa (38-16), on Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. Top-seeded and regional host Florida Southern (43-10) will face No. 4 seed Rollins (37-16) at 7 p.m.

Thursday's match-up will be the second meeting ever between Tusculum and Tampa. The Spartans eliminated TC from the NCAA Tournament in 2003, which was also played at Henley Field.

An all-session ticket costs $25 for adults and $10 for senior citizens (60 & over)/children under 12. Single Day tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens (60 & over)/children under 12. For ticket information, call 863-680-4247.

The winner of the South Regional will advance to the NCAA Division II World Series, which will be held May 28 - June 4 in Montgomery, Ala.
