Tusculum 11th in WBCA's Academic Top 25 Team

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College womens basketball team ranked 11th among NCAA Division II teams that appeared on the Womens Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 2004-05 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. The awards recognize teams throughout the nation that have the highest grade point averages for the 2004-05 season based upon nominations submitted by WBCA member coaches. The 2004-05 Pioneers posted a team GPA of 3.449. Drury University led all Division II schools with a 3.802 team GPA, highest of any division. Tusculum boasted the highest team GPA of any womens basketball team in the South Atlantic Conference last season. Fourteen of the 15 student-athletes who suited up for TC in 2004-05 were named to the Athletic Directors Honor Roll. Ten individuals were also recognized on the SAC Commissioners Honor Roll. Senior Julie Maples was named SAC Scholar-Athlete and became Tusculums first recipient of the SAC Presidents Award, which recognizes individuals who have made contributions with their teams, in the classroom, and in their communities. A total of 115 teams were recognized on the WBCAs Team Honor Rolls, 25 each from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, as well as the NAIA and junior college/community college divisions.
