Hickory, N.C. – Tim Clarke, a senior linebacker on the Lenoir-Rhyne football team, was picked to the D2Football.com Preseason All-American Second Team. The selection was the third preseason NCAA Division II All-American squad the Durham, North Carolina, native has been chosen for in 2005. Don Hansen's Football Gazette and CollegeSportsReport.com also tabbed Clarke a second-team All-American.

Clarke, a graduate of Northern Durham High School, was the first Bear to earn South Atlantic Conference Player-Of-The-Year honors in 21 seasons last year after leading the league with 125 tackles. Clarke also added 13 takedowns for a loss, six sacks and an interception.

L-R kicks off the 2005 season Saturday, September 3, at 7:30 p.m., against Kentucky State in Frankfort, Ky. The Bears first home contest will be the following weekend, Saturday, September 10, against North Carolina Central. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
