Tusculum Pioneers Aid in Hurricane Relief Efforts

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College student-athletes, coaches and administration have joined forces with the rest of the Greeneville campus in assisting those affected by Hurricane Katrina which hit Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama last week.

For the remainder of this week, Tusculum College will be collecting items for the hurricane evacuees who will be sheltered in Greene County, the Tri-Cities area, as well as assisting those still in the Gulf Coast region.

Items to be collected include: Basic needs (toiletries, soap, towels, washcloths, toothpaste, deodorant, razors, feminine products), cleaning supplies, new socks and underwear (all sizes), twin sheets and blankets, pillows, baby items (especially diapers and wipes), baby formula, flashlights, batteries and nonperishable food.

Items may be dropped off at the Greeneville campus, Sep. 7-9 from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. each day. The drop off location is in the "Quad Area" in front of the Niswonger Student Commons.

This event is being sponsored and coordinated by the Tusculum Center for Civic Advancement and Tusculum Student Affairs. The truck and driver are being donated by South State Contractors.

Tusculum College is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of eight colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
