Mars Hill Athletic Department Donates $1,966 to Hearts with Hands
December 12, 2005

MARS HILL, NC - The Mars Hill Lions' Athletic Department in conjunction with the school's student-athletes raised $1,966.00 for Hurricane Katrina Relief. At halftime of the women's basketball game against Converse College senior baseball player Jeff Mayo (Enfield, CT) and junior athletic trainer Carling Stepniak (Marshall, NC) presented a check to Hearts with Hands representative Tom Pethel.

The MHC student-athletes sold raffle tickets both on and off campus to aid in the relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina victims.

The athletic department is always looking for ways to give back to the community both locally and abroad. Efforts such as these prove to be great character building projects for our current student-athletes as we help mold our future leaders.
