Blue Hose Football Finish Season Ranked in

CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College football team finished the 2005 season ranked in several team and individual categories in the NCAA Division II National Statistics. As a team, the Blue Hose were in the top ten in two categories as they were third in the nation in team net punting (35.62) and eighth in scoring defense (14.2). PC was ranked 21st in rushing defense (106.0) and 26th in scoring offense (33.5). The Blue Hose were ranked in the top 50 in five other categories: 34th in turnover margin (0.7), 40th in total defense (314.3), 44th in team punt returns (11.31), 48th in pass efficiency defense (111.0) and 49th in passing offense (229.3). Individually, PC had two players ranked in the top 50 in three different categories. Sophomore punter Stuart Mull (Morganton, N.C.) was 13th in the nation in punting (40.3 avg.). Senior quarterback Zach Ellis (Tifton, Ga.) was 40th in passing efficiency (132.7) and 49th in total offense (217.8). Presbyterian College is coming off of their most successful seasons in program history after compiling a 10-2 overall record, winning the 2005 South Atlantic Conference championship with a perfect 7-0 mark, and earning a bid to the 2005 NCAA Division II Playoffs. The Blue Hose earned the top seed in the Southeast Region of the DII Playoffs and received a bye to the second round. |
