Revised Schedule for South Atlantic Regional

Columbus, Ga.----The Wingate University softball team will play its next game in the NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional softball tournament on Sunday morning, officials announced Saturday night. The Bulldogs will play Armstrong Atlantic State University Sunday morning at 11:30 a.m. Severe weather (including hail) has also forced the suspension of the Lenoir-Rhyne College versus number 11 Georgia College and State University game. The Bears and the Bobcats will resume play Sunday morning at 9 a.m. The Wingate University Sports Network will broadcast the Sunday morning game from the 2006 NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional softball tournament. Wingate could play as many as three games Sunday. The losers bracket final is slated for 2 p.m., with the first championship game scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The Bulldogs can be heard at Red Zone Media at the Internet address listed at the top of this message. Ryan Rose and Joe Weidman will provide play-by-play and color commentary from South Commons Park in Columbus. In addition, Columbus State University will provide live statistics from the 2006 NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional softball tournament. The entire NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional will be played at the South Commons Park (the former Olympic Stadium) in Columbus, site of the 1996 Olympic softball venue. The eight regional winners will advance to the NCAA championship finals to be held May 18-22, at the James I. Moyer Softball Complex in Salem, Virginia. |
