Presbyterian's Brown Named To 2006 ESPN The

CLINTON, S.C. - Presbyterian College women's tennis player Lauren Brown has been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women's at-large first team announced today. She earns the honor for the second straight year. Brown, a 5-8 junior from Gaffney, S.C. (Gaffney HS), was named to the first team after compiling a 15-6 mark at No. 2 singles and a 17-5 mark in doubles, while being named the 2006 SAC Player of the Year and earning first team All-SAC honors for the third straight year. In addition, she was named the 2006 Food Lion SAC Tournament MVP. In the classroom, she carries a cumulative GPA of 3.87 while majoring in chemistry. She has been selected to the SAC Academic Honor for three straight years, while being named to the school's Dean's List (3.3 GPA) for three semesters and to the President's List (4.0 GPA) for two semesters. This spring, she was named the 2006 SAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for women's tennis. She serves as the institution's and league's national representative on the NCAA Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. This year, Brown has helped lead this year's Lady Blue Hose team to an 18-4 overall record, the SAC regular season & SAC Tournament titles, a No. 21 national ranking, and a bid to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament. For her career, Brown has helped lead the women's tennis program to a 59-14 overall record, two SAC regular season titles, two SAC Tournament titles, a top 25 national ranking all three years, and three trips to the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Tournament. Along the way she has been selected to the Food Lion SAC All-Tournament team all three years. Brown will now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration.
