The South Atlantic Conference basketball
tournaments will be held Wednesday, Saturday-Sunday, March 2, 5-6,
2005. All teams will play the first round games at campus sites on
Wednesday, with the higher-seeded teams being hosts. Winners of those
first-round games advance to Hickory, NC, for the semifinals and
finals. The Hickory games will be played at the Catawba Valley
Community College Multipurpose Facility.

Tusculum College captured their first Food Lion South Atlantic
Conference Tournament title with today's 79-73 victory over
Lenoir-Rhyne College in the championship game of the 2005 Food Lion
South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament held Sunday
afternoon at the Catawba Valley Community Center. The Pioneers were
led in scoring by Donald Sexton, the 2005 SAC Tournament MVP.

Championship Summary: Carson-Newman Over Wingate, 64-42, for Title
The Carson-Newman Lady Eagles earned an automatic bid to the NCAA
Division II National Tournament as they defeated Wingate 64-42 in
the championship game of the 2005 Food Lion South Atlantic
Conference Women's Basketball Tournament held Sunday afternoon at
the Catawba Valley Community College Multipurpose Center. The Lady
Eagles were led in scoring by tourney MVP Brooke Johnson.

Tusculum College upset top-seeded Catawba 76-72 in Saturday
afternoon's first semifinal game to advance to the championship of
the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
held at the Multipurpose Arena at Catawba Valley Community College.
Later, the second seeded Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne College advanced to
the finals with an 84-82 victory over the third seed, Presbyterian
College.

Indians in the opening semifinal game of the 2005 Food Lion South
Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Tournament held at the
Catawba Valley Community Center Saturday afternoon. In the second
game, Carson-Newmans Brooke Johnson scored a game-high 22
points and added nine rebounds and four blocks as the Lady Eagles
advanced to the finals with a 68-59 win over Mars Hill.
