Brackets Announced for 2006 Food Lion South

ROCK HILL, SC Presbyterian College, which went undefeated in conference play, received the No. 1 seed in next weeks Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Mens Tennis Tournament, where they will attempt to win their third consecutive tournament championship. Tusculum College, Carson-Newman College and Catawba College all finished the regular season tied for second in the conference standings with 4-2 records. The Pioneers of Tusculum earned the second seed by virtue of a tiebreaker procedure, having won 10 matches in their contests with Carson-Newman and Catawba. Carson-Newman then earned the third seed by virtue of its 6-3 regular-season win over Catawba. The Indians are the fourth seed. Tusculum will also receive a bye in the quarterfinals as Wingate University has withdrawn its mens tennis team from the conference tournament. Carson-Newman will host sixth-seed Newberry on Tuesday in a quarterfinal match at 2:30 p.m. Catawba will host fifth-seed Mars Hill on Tuesday in the other quarterfinal match on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The semifinals and finals will be held at Carson-Newman College on Friday, April 21. The semifinals will begin at 9 a.m., with the semifinal winners meeting for the tournament championship at 2:30 p.m. Pairings for the womens tennis tournament will be announced following the final regular-season match on Friday. 2006 Food Lion SAC Mens Tennis Tournament |
