Brackets Announced for 2006 Food Lion South

ROCK HILL, SC Presbyterian College, which went undefeated in conference play, received the No. 1 seed in next weeks Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Womens Tennis Tournament, where they will attempt to win their second consecutive tournament championship and 13th overall. The Blue Hose will host eighth seed Lenoir-Rhyne College in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. Presbyterian closed out the regular season on Friday with a 9-0 win over Lenoir-Rhyne. Tusculum College, whose only conference loss was to Presbyterian, is the second seed. The Lady Pioneers are 15-6 overall. Tusculum will host seventh-seed Wingate. Wingate and Newberry finished tied with 2-5 conference records. Newberry earned the sixth seed by virtue of its 6-3 victory over Wingate during the regular season. Catawba, 5-2 in the conference and 13-10 overall, is the third seed. Catawba will host Newberry (2-5, 8-10). Mars Hill and Carson-Newman tied for fourth place in the regular-season standings at 3-4. Carson-Newman earned the fourth seed and the right to host Mars Hill by virtue of its 5-4 win over the Lions during the regular season. The semifinals and finals will be held at Carson-Newman College on Saturday, April 22. The semifinals will begin at 9 a.m., with the semifinal winners meeting for the tournament championship at 2:30 p.m. 2006 Food Lion SAC Womens Tennis
