Presbyterian -- 2006 Women's Tennis ChampionsJEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The #23 Presbyterian Blue Hose claimed their second consecutive Food Lion South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Tournament women’s tennis championship as they defeated second-seeded Tusculum 5-1 Saturday afternoon.

The win for the Blue Hose is their 12th tournament championship since 1990. With the win, PC improves to 18-3 and clinches the SAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division II national tournament. Tusculum is now 17-7 on the season.

The Blue Hose took a 2-1 lead in doubles play, claiming wins at the number one and two positions. Lauren Brown, Lisa Moyer and Brittany Lanford won their singles competitions to claim a 5-1 win for their team.

Presbyterian 5, Carson-Newman 1
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Top-seeded Presbyterian advanced to the finals of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference (SAC) women’s tennis tournament with a 5-1 win over fourth-seeded Carson-Newman Saturday afternoon.

After the Blue Hose won two of three doubles matches, they claimed wins in the two, three and four singles matches. Presbyterian, who won the SAC Tournament title last season, will face Tusculum in the finals today at 5:30 p.m.

The Blue Hose improve to 17-3 while the Lady Eagles fall to 9-9.

Tusculum 5, Catawba 1
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Tusculum Lady Pioneers took an early 3-0 lead in doubles play and went on to win two of three singles matches to defeat Catawba 5-1 in the semi-finals of the Food Lion SAC women’s tennis tournament Saturday afternoon.

The second-seeded Lady Pioneers will face Presbyterian in the SAC finals Saturday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. Tusculum improves to 17-6 on the season while Catawba is now 14-11 overall.
